My preschool-age daughter surprised me with a nap today, and while I did have lots of housework to attend to, her restful pose caught my eye. I had to paint her – quickly – before she woke up. Armed with a tube of transparent oxide red, a few favorite brushes and my pochade box, I set out to capture her peaceful gesture before her eyes opened.
I’m so grateful I was able to paint this. Sometimes the demands of motherhood trump artistic desires; other times the dishes can wait.
